42 Science Fiction Challenge for 2015

Check this out! A challenge just for fans of science fiction. At the 42 SF Challenge blog, there's an invitation to read, watch, or listen to 42 SF items in 2015 and write reviews of them.

Anyone who knows anything about science fiction knows that 42 is a special number. 42 is 101010 in binary code, light refracts off water by 42 degrees to create a rainbow, and light requires 10−42 seconds to cross the diameter of a proton. It's also the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything.

Heck, as much science fiction as I read and watch, I can probably experience 42 items in three months or so. Reviewing them is another thing. It's a good thing that the challenge is for the entire year of 2015, so if I can produce one review a week, I'll be in good shape. I'm signing up. Will you join me? Sign up for 42 SF Challenge

Introducing Nanny

It's about time this Nanny/grandmother started a blog. So why am I doing this?

I've lived long enough to have entered the “crone” stage of life. Therefore, I believe that I have some knowledge and wisdom to pass on. This blog will contain posts on mundane topics like laundry and cooking as well as more interesting [possibly] things like books and films.

Yeah, books and reading will probably have prominence on this blog. I have loved libraries and books my whole life. I've even taken graduate courses in library science—just because. I suppose you could consider the Internet the ultimate library; certainly a portal to information right at my fingertips. I plan to link to useful places and entertaining sites, with no rhyme or reason. Just whatever my telescope picks up.

Wish me luck—I'll probably need it.
